University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Career Services
Marketing | Social Media | PRint & Digital Design
The Career Services department at UW-Eau Claire connects current students and alumni with job opportunities and potential employers in their field of work. They provide counseling for students in areas like career planning, finding internships and jobs, creating resumes and cover letters, and interviewing.
During my time as a graphic designer in Career Services, I worked on a wide variety of projects for print and digital use intended to raise awareness of the department among campus members and employers in the surrounding area.
Career Fair Branding
Overall, I created a brand identity for twelve different career fairs and adapted them for print and digital use.
Here’s my design for their Spring 2022 fair, in a social media, yard sign, and online banner format. The layout stood out from the usual graphics from other departments that often featured smaller artwork on a solid background.
As a result of our marketing efforts, the Spring 2022 career fair was one of the best attended within recent years, with total registration numbering over 2,000 people.
Fall Career Fair
Here are a few more examples of work I made for the Fall 2021 career fair, including two social media posts, signage at the event to recognize sponsors, and an email / website banner.
First Destination Report Graphics
The annual First Destination Report details the influence of the Career Services department on outcomes after college for important stakeholders like the Chancellor’s office and nearby employers. I was tasked with creating an infographic of some of the most important markers, as well as designing the front and back cover and a few inner pages of the final report.
Social Media Content & Strategy
Though I did a lot of reformatting other people’s flyers for social media (and editing poorly-archived PDFs in Photoshop), I did get the chance to create a few posts of my own. During my time in Career Services, I was constantly thinking of new ways to increase student involvement and awareness of the department. I created a series of fun diagrams relating various aspects of student life at the university, such as the teriyaki bowls served in the dining hall, to tips about careers.
This post received the highest engagement numbers to-date across Facebook and Instagram.
2021 Virtual Graduation Marketing Package
Due to the pandemic, winter 2021 graduation ceremonies were held online. We worked together with the university’s Integrated Media and Communications department to develop a promotional folder that resembled a diploma for use in the ceremony and graduates’ photos. We contributed a flyer to remind graduates of Career Services after graduation. We also followed up with a targeted email using the banner below, sent a few weeks afterwards. These marketing efforts contributed to an increase in completed First Destination surveys for the class of 2021 compared to previous years.
