In my artwork, I am most inspired by the playful colors and textures in the landscapes around me. Here are some of my latest prints available in Tangled Up in Hue and Wisconsin Makers Market in Eau Claire, WI.
BFA Project: I Am Fading in the Dark
I have been a music / orchestra nerd for most of my life. I’ve played violin since I was eight years old. I mention this not as some sort of weird flex but rather because my background in music affects the way I look at and experience the world around me. I began to think about how music would look like as art on a page, how to capture melodies in typography, what written words would sound like if they were in a song.
Pulling inspiration from my quarantine playlist, I picked lyrics that I felt best resonated with me to both memorialize and critique this present point in time. I decided to combine my love of music and the arts by creating this set of screen prints that visualizes the melodies in each song and the emotions they represent.
For my degree show at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, I created this set of 16 total screen prints in a few color variations each. The majority of the originals have sold, and the series has sparked a bunch of fun commission projects. I look forward to continuing this series in the future.
